Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

The phone interview was mostly a bunch of technical questions about C++.

Before the interview, I attempted to find out more about the job. All I knew was that it would involve C++ programming. They did spend a little time going over my background.

During the interview, I asked some specific questions about the job I was applying for. All I got was a "check the website" response. The website had good general information about working at the company, but very little about the specific role.

To sum up, the people interviewing me felt that the purpose of a job interview was so that they could learn about me and only that. When I interview for a job, I want to learn about the position as well. They did not want to tell me about the position.

Questions

One question they asked me was, "Is there a problem with giving initial values to static variables?" I said no. The interviewer said yes and had some strange reason why.
