Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

The interview process involved online coding, a phone interview, and an onsite interview.

There were two rounds during the onsite interview. In each round, there were two people on the panel. The most challenging aspect was that the interviewers only knew C++, with no knowledge of Java or C#. I was asked to solve a problem and write test cases for it. I gave my best.

One interviewer seemed impressed, while the other appeared uninterested. I made an effort to engage him. Later, while shaking hands, the uninterested interviewer said, "Thank you for applying at Bloomberg."

In the next round, I faced difficult questions, but it went better than the previous one. The interviewers were very polite and humble this time.

Bloomberg's policy is that if the first two rounds do not go well, the hiring manager, who is supposed to interview in the third round, will simply escort the candidate to the elevator. This is the worst behavior I have experienced in the tech industry.

If you have an onsite interview, it is advisable to use Bloomberg's travel arrangements. After the interview, there is no follow-up on reimbursement.
