Process

Contacted by a recruiting firm, which arranged the initial phone screen. The interview process was old-style, with many in-depth questions on C++ and fewer on algorithms. C++ was mentioned as a preferred language, and the interviewer asked many questions from C++11 (and later) standards, such as how rvalue references work. Therefore, it was more about memorization than problem-solving.

Questions

  1. C++ fundamentals: lvalue, rvalue. Disliked it. More on memorizing.

  2. Concurrency question on locking pattern. Good question.

  3. Memory allocation. OK question.

  4. Algorithm question on URL caching and eviction. Good question, but did not have time to code.
