Pros: This review is for R&D. Very good team placement. Recruiters/HR work well to ensure new hires get the teams they desire. Quality of work is good. Very good training sessions and talks by leading experts in C++, such as Bjarne Stroustrup and Alex Stepanov. Employees are encouraged to take part in volunteer activities. Very good training program for university graduates. Very good benefits include 100% employer-paid health insurance and 401k matching. Teams have started participating in conferences and engaging with the tech community in general.

Cons: It's a pain working with the legacy systems. It slows you down. There's so much more that you could do in a day if this stuff wasn't there. Free snacks in the NY office are okay, but a meal would be better. Average age is higher than at other tech firms, so managers sometimes have reservations about using recent technologies. Not a lot of hiring for the west coast office.

Pros: Decent compensation. Many interesting perks, like free admission to museums and an annual picnic. The company culture is on the laid-back side, as a financial company. This should be an ideal "last job" for anyone.

Cons: The technology used in Bloomberg is pretty boring. In my group, we use a little bit of everything, and the problems we work on are usually pretty shallow from a technology point of view.

Pros: The office is amazing. You can invite guests.

Cons: Culture varies from team to team.
