Process
I applied online for the position. Within a week, I was invited to an in-person interview.
The interviewers were 10 minutes late to collect me. Due to time constraints, I was given two technical questions before a very brief period where I could ask questions.
After the interview, I received an email about my rejection a few weeks later.
Questions

Bloomberg LP Work Experiences
- 5.0A challenging but supportive place to workSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeLondon, England, United KingdomFebruary 21, 2021Pros: Challenging & interesting problems being tackled, many opportunities within the company, active open source & inner source communities, a supportive environment, a tech company in the finance industry rather than the other way around.Cons: Longer hours than other big tech companies. Engineers will typically be on-call for one week per month/6 weeks, which can require early morning wake-ups when outages occur. This affects some teams more than others, though.
- 5.0Great Place, Stunted GrowthSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeNew York, New York, United StatesAugust 18, 2025Pros: A very good place to work for.Cons: Career growth stunted; few growth opportunities.
- 3.0Good Not GreatSoftware Engineer • Former EmployeeNew York, New York, United StatesAugust 23, 2019Pros: - Nice office with good views - Pretty good work-life balance - Decent payCons: - No clear track for success or moving up the ladder. - Performance reviews and promotions seem to be very subjective and not very quantifiable. - Much of the leadership is ancient and has been at the company for decades, so not much room for growth and no true desire to innovate. - Very outdated and proprietary tech stack. - Using internal tools and the terminal daily is a pain. - Pay/perks are a tier below the other big tech companies. - Very much of a corporate and finance vibe in 731 Lex.
