It's impossible to change; legacy is everywhere. As a software engineer, you deal with configuration and overcoming limitations of the current environment most of the time. If you're senior, expect up to half of your time to be wasted on meetings. Micromanagement is everywhere due to below-average technical expertise in most teams.
