The intern projects at Bloomberg are designed to be, and largely meet the goal of being, very impactful projects that undergo the full software lifecycle, from dev to alpha/beta to production. You are not going to be a code monkey; you will get to architect some beautiful code at Bloomberg, especially since they care so much about code quality.
The intern events here are incredible, as in beyond belief incredible. Renting out an island as an amusement park, doing an all-night puzzle hunt... it was all a blast.
Free food is always available, mostly in the form of snacks, chips, cereal, coffee, snack bars, protein bars, fruit, nuts, and occasionally soup and ice cream.
The 1-on-1 mentoring style they have is fantastic for getting your questions answered quickly, and for helping you learn to use the multitude of Bloomberg tools designed to make your life easier.
I've always had very friendly interactions with all employees.
The company is very progressive and is always looking for ways to improve itself, especially in areas that are historically underrepresented.
Mentors try and make sure you don't work more than 40 hours a week; they want a good work/life balance.
Very philanthropic organization; feels good to work there.
5 interview rounds: 3 LeetCode, 1 HR, 1 EM. LeetCode rounds are simply tagged as LeetCode. The HR round consists of standard behavioral questions. The EM round is a deep dive into one specific project and the challenges you encountered.
1 technical phone screen, 2 technical in-person interviews (LeetCode questions), 1 HR, and 1 EM round. For the EM round, I was asked about past projects and to explain a random topic.
Multiple rounds of technical interviews. Didn't get passed round one despite answering all the questions and any followups they had. It was two LeetCode questions, and you would write out your code on a HackerRank interface.
