Pros: Great external educational benefits. Internal educational benefits depend on your manager (I've had mostly good experiences). Easy to move around within the company. Probably the best place to be an engineer in the Seattle area (besides software). Great experienced engineers to learn from and a culture that promotes individual growth in both technical and leadership arenas. Work-life balance is pretty great. You work 8 hours a day. That's it. Overtime pay (minimal increase) if you work more.

Cons: Must push for your promotions. There is lots of time between promotions. Union-based salary policies push everybody's pay to the middle of their level. Used to offer a competitive middle-upper class salary for the Seattle area. With the tech rise, you will find yourself more solidly in middle-class salary ranges.

Pros: Great opportunities for growth for engineers prior to becoming a manager.

Cons: Not many opportunities for growth after first-level management in the Houston location.

Pros: Great benefit, work/life balance and PTO. I get to take weeks off annually without feeling bad.

Cons: Mundane work, no new skill learned if you don't ask. Even if you ask, a manager may not assign you to work you like because of budget.
