Flexible schedule, lots of sick leave, and educational benefits are great. You can learn about anything. Most people are willing to teach about their work. There's tons of opportunity. If you're good at networking, you can find interesting assignments.
Management faces no consequence for bad decision-making. I've seen projects years late and overbudget, and the managers just get moved to new projects. Engineering has to deal with all the problems as a result of their terrible planning.
The "good ol' boys club" is evident as you get higher in the management structure. Technical fellows are mostly old men with egos who typically add limited value. All these people are the backbone of the company and contribute to things being way late and overbudget. It doesn't take that much digging to see multiple Boeing products that were way late and overbudget:
Managers/executives who make unrealistic schedules that ultimately reduce quality and later lead to delays should be fired. There needs to be a realignment of management's priorities to being product-focused as opposed to schedule-focused. Also, managers need to be more technically involved.
This was for an entry-level role. STAR format, 5 questions. I was asked about experience and difficult/pressure situations. Besides the 5 STAR questions, a couple of yes/no questions were asked, e.g., "Have you ever used tool X?"
The interview process is quick and easy. It is mainly behavioral and about how well you fit in the team. The maximum time is an hour, and the average time for the interview is 30 minutes.
No technical questions asked. They are super focused and live and die on the STAR questions. No test required. Not even sure if they’re allowed to ask anything outside of the STAR questions.
