Pay, benefits, flexible schedules, college tuition, no overtime required, and people are generally pleasant.
Management generally treats people with respect. I've seen very little abusive behavior from management, at least publicly.
I haven't found the work to be very interesting as an engineer. From my perspective, the tendency is to put engineers in overly narrow specializations and keep them there until they retire.
Try to find better alignment between people's interests and passions, rather than wasting the highly-paid, highly-educated workforce with overly repetitive and non-challenging work.
Having people do the same thing for 20 years is not good for the employee or the company.
Giving people more interesting and varied challenges will pay big dividends in my opinion.
