Pros

Products serve a useful function. Great facilities and support personnel. Supportive co-workers and low-level management. Good medical & retirement benefits. Competitive salary structure. Good opportunities for advancement . . . if you play by the party rules.

Cons

The nature of the products (super reliable commercial airplanes) tends to discourage creativity and bog one down in rules, many of which can be outdated.

The retention grading system can be threatening and can discourage new ideas.

Upper management has, in recent years, seriously weakened the financial strength of the company regarding its development strategies of new models, which in turn has weakened job security.

Advice to Management

How it has been possible for management to so poorly evaluate the scheduling realities of new airplane development and delivery borders on seeming madness.
