Pros

Tremendous resources. Your learning is limited by your desire.

Cons

Due to changes in technology and improvements in efficiency, fewer people are needed to do what used to take many. Today's critical skill is tomorrow's buggy whip. Boeing is evolving from a designer/manufacturer to a systems integrator/assembler, with fewer processes being done under its own roof.

So you must continually evaluate your skills tool kit to assess its marketability. Although the company seeks to be a "one Boeing", there are big cultural differences between different divisions.

Advice to Management

Recognizing that Boeing's needs will change, while employees desire some security and predictability in their lives, take initiative to provide employees opportunities and encouragement to obtain skills that will outlive their tenure at Boeing and be useful in other industries.
