Pay-rate as a contingent worker (that was the real title for senior software engineer in Boeing's file), hired through a staffing firm, was okay. Weekly paid at $70/hr on W2.
Got miserable managers who do not know anything about software development. They expect in the meeting to be provided only the end results of a work endeavor and a percentage as work progress for the project. If you dare to get involved to explain at the technical level what you did for the time spent at work, you realize that you waste your time teaching managers the technologies you use, who have no clue why you do that. This only puts into doubt the need for your work in the end, in order to cover up their lack of technical understanding.
Get another job in sales if you cannot understand engineering and do not like it. There are plenty of experienced engineers who would be happy to get a promotion and raise to the "rank" of manager, but you just keep your own job as manager when you are not skilled for it, at the expense of the company's progress and subordinates' satisfaction.
The candidates were called at 8:30 in the morning, but the interview started at 10 am and went until 5 o'clock. For the duration of 8 hours, they were only able to conduct 2 interviews per person. Extremely disorganized interview process. Coming t
Virtual interview with a panel in 30 minutes. I felt awkward because no one turned on their video except myself. Perhaps this is a security precaution for a defense-related position. I answered five standardized questions.
Nothing too technical, everyone friendly. They cared about character more than how to answer technical questions. Good process overall for those exiting college. Be sure to network within the company; there are many opportunities for mobility.
