Safe, good compensation, flexible hours and vacation, and lots of opportunity to manage.
Promotions are based more on years of experience than performance. Salaries are kept towards the middle of the range. The company wants to manage projects rather than make products in all but airplanes. There is little chance to actually gain knowledge in technical areas. Large companies are forced by the government into very excessive training on ethics, etc.
Make, don't just manage. Keep good performers at all levels; don't keep bad performers. Don't blow all of the training budget on ethics, etc. Find a way to train in useful job-related skills.
