Pros

Pay is well above average for engineering professions, especially for new hires. There are great benefits, a bonus, ample time off, and holidays.

Cutting-edge work (if you happen to land in it).

Training.

International opportunities.

Cons

There's always a feeling that some executive will have a "vision" that could endanger your group or job.

The office environment is not very personable (i.e., you wouldn't just go get a beer with your group).

The Everett site is very big, making it impossible to work out or go out to lunch due to parking.

It's easy to get lost in the system. It's easy to get stuck on something that will not make you marketable within Boeing or elsewhere further down the road.

Advice to Management

Develop a more modern and employee-oriented management style. With the current paradigm shift in technical work environments from strictly business and bottom line to employee development and well-being, you need to offer similar venues to compete with the tech giants. Doing so will attract talent. Also, who the hell wants to live in Everett?

There's no need for all office space to be in Everett. Find a more desirable location for engineering/office positions.
