Software Engineer Interview Experience - Amsterdam, Netherlands

Positive ExperienceGot Offer

Process

There was first a phone technical interview with two medium questions.

The first one was to find if two words can form another word from a dictionary, and the second one to get a list of files from a file system hierarchy.

Afterwards, I was invited to an onsite, three-round interview.

The first round was coding a solution to the problem described below. The second was a system design session to discuss ways to create a booking feature. The last round was with a team leader about cultural fit.

Questions

Find the nearest hotels within a range [min, max] in a 2D grid. Cells with the value 1 represent part of a road, a value bigger than 1 is the price of a room per night, and an empty cell means no road or hotel.

How would you design the "a number of users are currently looking at the same property" feature?
