Process

  1. HR phone screen The recruiter explained the whole process and asked some questions about my motivation for applying to the position, my past experiences, why I had left previous roles, and my salary expectations.

  2. Technical phone screen There was a problem-solving exercise with code shared in an online editor. It was a simple question (implement a function to return the first n characters of a text without breaking any words) with some follow-ups that added obstacles to the solution, allowing me to explain how I would overcome them.

  3. Face-to-face interviews in Amsterdam A full day of interviews:

  • One from HR (warm-up, checking if anything had changed since the initial contact).
  • Two technical interviews (algorithm-heavy).
  • One business-related interview (behavioral questions and knowledge about the business model).

Questions

Implement a function to return the first n characters of a text, without breaking any words.
