I interviewed for a Software Engineering Intern position at Booking.com in Amsterdam. The application process is quite straightforward.

First, you apply and then wait for about a month until a recruiter reviews your CV. After that, you receive an online assessment, which is essentially a mix of easy and medium LeetCode questions selected at random. The questions cover very basic programming, graph theory, and one multiple-choice section.

If you score well enough, a recruiter reaches out to you via LinkedIn (which I found a bit unusual) to schedule a meeting. You'll receive a Zoom link shortly before the interview, which is voice-only. I found this approach slightly unprofessional and would have preferred a more structured scheduling process, like what many companies that value their candidates provide.

The "15-minute call" was actually 30-40 minutes and included questions about my motivation and experience, along with an introduction to the internship program. During the call, the recruiter emphasized the high volume of applicants but seemed somewhat disengaged throughout our conversation.

In the end, I was rejected via a generic email. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t apply again for any position at Booking.com. The process felt impersonal and lacked the professionalism I’ve encountered with other companies.
