Process

There was no clear process. I received a LinkedIn message from a Box recruiter, who was very cooperative. She passed me on to another person, who then passed me on to another lady. She scheduled a telephonic interview with the interviewer.

I tried to look up the interviewer's profile on LinkedIn but found nothing.

The interviewer called as scheduled and sounded very reluctant. The interview began with the question, "How would you debug JavaScript?" and then moved on to, "How would you debug PHP?"

There was no mention of PHP anywhere in my CV, so I had to state that. The interviewer sounded disappointed that the PHP question, which she had prepared, could no longer be asked. I guess the interviewer was looking for a PHP candidate more than a UI candidate.

This was followed by a JavaScript coding exercise. I asked the interviewer what her approach would be. She confirmed that she would do the same.

No feedback was shared after that. I followed up after a week, and then another week passed. The response I received each time was that my profile did not match the requirements.

I wonder, if my background doesn't match, why conduct an interview at all?
