Well compensated for hard work, incredible and talented colleagues, amazing opportunity to work on interesting problems in a high-quality codebase. If you care about good engineering, Brex is unparalleled. It's a smart product built by a team of extraordinary people.
Not exactly a con, but definitely a personal choice: there is a strong reliance on individual responsibility and growth. This comes along with a lot of autonomy as well as a lot of pressure.
It moves fast and has high expectations of its engineers, which is inspiring, intimidating, and sometimes exhausting. I've grown a lot as an engineer and also had moments of serious self-doubt.
So, in short, an incredible opportunity but also a serious commitment.
I've seen reviews that it's a toxic culture, and I disagree strongly on that point. But I do think that it requires a certain amount of self-confidence and trust that can be difficult to find if you've had an unconventional career path or don't have a CS degree.
The interview process included several rounds: HR screening, a code challenge, a debugging challenge, system design, and a final alignment call. It was a very good assessment, apart from the multiple steps. All the interviewers were really nice and
Accessible and with a YouTube video to indicate what the process will be like on the Brex Br channel. It's a different process due to the debugging interview, but it's quite fun. It's worth doing.
The first step was a problem-solving task on CodeSignal within a 70-minute timeframe. I wanted to be honest, so I didn't try to find answers or algorithms on the internet. LeetCode-based problems basically don't tell anything about your lifetime expe
