Pros

Great compensation and the ability to work with the latest technology. They really put an emphasis on getting product out the door, so the technology to make that happen is the best in the world. Broadcom says they hire only the best of the best and they compensate that way.

Cons

Prepare to dislike the people you work with. A lot of toxic relationships.

Never before have I worked at a place where I don't trust the people I work with. That has never happened before.

Even my spouse tells me not to trust these people.

But the compensation is top-notch, which means that people stay and gradually adopt the same interpersonal skills of their coworkers to survive.

Teamwork suffers.

Advice to Management

There should be a question on the annual survey: "Do you know a group that is difficult to work with?" Find the toxic groups and find out why they are so hard to work with.

That said, Broadcom is being acquired by Avago, and Avago will probably lay off a quarter of Broadcom. So, the current Broadcom won't be around much longer.
