Pros: Decent compensation, promising trajectory, solid values, and working culture. Most people I work with are talented, amazing individuals. Work-life balance highly fluctuates based on team, time of year, and pure luck, but is generally OK. Benefits are consistent with big tech.

Cons: While I appreciate that Canva is fast-moving, there are clearly some bad eggs at senior to exec level that can't plan their way out of a one-way street. Terrible communicators, unnecessarily secretive discussions, a lack of process, or sometimes swinging the other way – full of bureaucracy. Result? It rains down on everyone below: unclear needs, tight deadlines, constant pivots. Too many "yes men" along the way to push back reasonably. Something went wrong when hiring half of leadership. The other half are amazing individuals. You toss a coin sometimes on whether you'll be working with one or the other.

Pros: Remote friendly, decent pay, fairly qualified peers, good collaboration at the lowest level.

Cons: Ever since the company started to hire managers externally, the culture has gone seriously downhill, and there are not many promo opportunities. The top leadership were mostly at the right place at the right time, i.e., they joined the company back when management was trained through internal promotion and everyone was working closely with the founders. Now it’s all backstabbing games on the mid-to-high level management, and the positions are very windy. All this is made worse by the fact that the company does random hiring freezes and team bonding budget freezes without proper explanation why. There’s talk in public and also internally about an IPO; maybe it’s related, but this has been going on for too long.
