Front End Developer Interview Experience - Sydney, Australia

Process

Very long interview process.

  • First round with recruiter.
  • Second round with an engineer for basic coding (45 minutes).
  • Three-hour interview with three engineers:
    • The first engineer asked CSS and layout questions. They were non-interactive and appeared sleepy or tired.
    • The second engineer had extremely poor communication skills, making it very difficult to understand them.
    • The third part involved two engineers. Again, CSS questions were asked, and they themselves seemed unsure of CSS properties while expecting candidates to remember everything.
  • The final values interview was good.

Received an email stating I was not selected, which felt like a waste of three weeks.

No local candidates seem to work there due to the extremely bad interviewers. If you don't remember one CSS property in an interview, you're rejected, so don't waste your time.

In my opinion, spend this time preparing for big tech company interviews rather than wasting it on Canva.
