A very disappointing interview experience overall, mostly due to the recruiter I was in contact with.
In my initial chat with the recruiter, I was met with a deflated attitude, and it felt like they had better things to be doing.
I was told I'd receive study material as I progressed to the second round, but that never came.
The second round with one of the developers was fine. I had a series of questions, each one building off the result of the last. I was able to answer the questions but did not articulate myself well and did not optimize my answers. I didn't realize that this was a key factor in this particular interview.
The copy-pasted rejection email and the ten words of feedback that followed were supremely unhelpful, along the lines of "study the API." Given that the candidate is allowed to use Google during the interview to reference the API, I did not think this was helpful feedback at all. I would have wanted to hear back on how I could improve my verbal communication or specific points where I got stuck.
1st round - Initial phone interview to assess candidate suitability. Basic chat followed by simple questions with JS.
2nd round - Technical coding round using vanilla JavaScript based on ES6 API.
Did not progress to the third round.
