This was my first interview outside of my college placements. Needless to say, I was a bit nervous.
I went through three technical interviews and was told that I was selected. I was elated, thinking this would be a great start. I waited a few days without any communication from the recruiter. About 10 days later, I received a call from one of the recruiters, who said she had sent me an email asking for a few documents. I told her I hadn't received her email, and she said she would resend it. I didn't think much of it.
After a few days, I called back the number she had used to call me. She was very rude. "How did you get this number?" "Don't call on this number." Who else am I supposed to call? The CEO of your company?
Icing on the cake, that email never did arrive.
When it came to discussing salary, she offered me just a 7% increment. That was the worst part. When I asked for around 20%, very reluctantly, she said she would send it for approval. It's been about a month, and I haven't heard anything yet.
This being my first interview, I was very shaken by how I was treated. I attended two more interviews in a couple of weeks, and I was too scared to expect any better treatment from their recruiters. I feel good now that it didn't happen at any of those places. I have received an offer with over a 60% increment from one of them and am waiting for the offer from the second one. I am glad that things didn't work out with Capgemini.
If they put out an ad for a walk-in, and you are above average or even average at what you do, I highly recommend you don't go. They asked a lady with nine years of experience to join at the same CTC as her current CTC. Height of arrogance and neglect.
