Lead QA Engineer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, India

Process

The interview process began with HR calling to discuss details and expectations and to screen my profile. Afterward, HR's incompetence made scheduling the interview itself very difficult. She mentioned working from home and took leniency in scheduling, randomly assigning interview times. She would call an hour before to inform me about a scheduled interview and ask me to join, then cancel because I wasn't available on such short notice, only to delay the scheduling again.

After two weeks of attempts to simply schedule the interview, it finally happened. I cleared the L1 interview. Then, I had to wait another two weeks for the HR round. To my surprise, it wasn't a typical HR round. The HR manager called me out of the blue on my phone and informed me of the salary she wanted to offer, rather than having a discussion about policies and salary. It felt like a "take it or leave it" situation, with no concern for my situation.

Imagine waiting almost a month in the process after stating my expectations, only to be low-balled in the end by a margin of 5 Lakhs between my expectations and their offer. This was even after I mentioned having other offers that were better than what they were offering. It was a complete waste of a month as a candidate, being kept engaged. I had to proactively call HR for details.

Before all this, they collected all my personal details for background verification, including my degree, marksheets, payslips, and an information release form, which I signed. They did this so they could use my personal details as they saw fit, only to then say they didn't have the budget from the beginning. Why waste a month of my time when you know you don't have budget approval to begin with? Was it just to gather candidate information and details?

Overall, it was a very bad experience from a professional standpoint, and there is no oversight of such conduct by the Capgemini team. I would have requested someone to look into this matter, but I don't think anyone bothers. Consequently, such unprofessional conduct continues to happen with genuine candidates, leading to an unhealthy environment when it comes to job switching.
