I had an interview today with Capgemini. I must say it was the worst experience ever.
From the beginning, the interviewer was treating me rudely. First of all, I joined on time, then she asked me to rejoin as she said the video was getting blurry. After rejoining, she asked me to show my ID proof. I showed my DigiLocker ID (Aadhaar card), as I do for every other company's interview, but then she asked me to show a physical ID. I somehow convinced her to please proceed with the digital photocopy on my device.
After 2-3 minutes of rude comments like, "You don't know such basic things for an IT company," she proceeded with the interview. I gave my introduction very politely and also explained my tech stack.
Then she asked me why I am working on Java 21, as I am working in banking and banking should not use the latest version (as she didn't even know the latest version of Java is 24). I remained quiet.
Then she asked me about the features of Java 21. I explained them along with their actual usage in our project. Then she asked me to open an online Java compiler. I politely asked her if I could open IntelliJ, but again she refused by saying it has inbuilt functions (I was surprised).
The program was to find unique integers from a given number. As she asked me orally, I confirmed the question to get more clarity. So she got offended, saying, "How many times do I have to explain this to you? Such a basic thing you don't know. You have 7+ years of experience, yet you don't know these things."
Even though I was very much sure about the solution and could have resolved it in a minute, I chose to quit from the interview because of such rude and unprofessional behavior. I can reveal her name as well, but it doesn't seem appropriate.
After the interview, I emailed the contact person and reported all the incidents that happened, and requested to reschedule my interview if possible, as I was really interested in this opportunity. I also requested them to go through my interview recording and kindly review it.
I heard Capgemini is a very professional and reputed company in IT. But these kinds of people are really messing with the company's reputation. I request the management of the company to take strict action against such people or at least provide proper training on 'How to treat people and behave like a professional'.
