You will not get your desired project if you're a fresher. They will just put you where the requirement is, and in case you do not wish to join, they ask you to hand in your resignation.
If you wish to move out of a project due to office politics, the managers will try to manipulate you by saying, "There are not many projects. You will end up on the bench, and eventually, they will ask you to resign."
Even if you work hard, there is always a reason for them not to compensate you fairly and equally.
If you get client location, these people will not even provide transportation. We literally had to fight with the management. Managers used to board the bus, but people like freshers who couldn't afford to avail cabs used to stand daily in the bus.
See where your resource's interest lies and give them projects based on their skillset or technologies they want to learn.
Do not try to play office politics with employees who are true to their work; find people who wish to participate in the drama.
Do not praise employees for a year and at the end tell them, "We cannot give you a good rating because you did not do what others did." Give them your expectations at the start of the year.
If you're sending people to work at a client's location, give them transport.
