Once you hire a fresher, please take a look at their resume and skillset instead of blindly putting them on any random project. For instance, I am very good at programming and demonstrated the same in my undergraduate studies and in my interview with the hiring manager. However, I was put on a manual testing project since there was an urgent requirement. Two years down the line, I could not get out of that project due to the politics of the Associate Director and Manager. They were in cahoots with the HR, and even a word of wanting to get out of the project had detrimental effects on your ratings. This is where the role of HR comes in. They need to talk with candidates about their preferred roles and not bow down to the whims of Project Managers.
