Lead Software Engineer Interview Experience - Richmond, Virginia

Process

One HackerRank test with 4 questions, which can be easily passed.

The second one is onsite in Virginia.

There were 3 onsite interviews with 1:1. All of them were behavioral except the last one. One of them was in person, and two were remote. The technical interview was nearly a sham, bordering on ridiculousness.

In all, two directors and one lead conducted the interviews.

As per their job description, it listed an Engineering Manager profile, but the role was for an individual contributor lead. This felt like a typical bait-and-switch. I felt very bad after attending the process, having wasted one day. Confirm the roles before you proceed.

Questions

What is a REST service? How do you design a database schema? Do you know multithreading? Do you build tools (Maven)? Which continuous integration tools do you use? Do you write unit test cases?

Nothing strong technically; they will have a sheet to tick against and will go by it. More like a finance company. They call it a "job fit interview"!
