Process

Application I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Capital One (Richmond, VA).

A HackerRank online coding test was administered. After passing a phone screen with the hiring manager and his team members, the following questions were asked:

  • Difference between String, StringBuffer, and StringBuilder
  • How do you make a class immutable?
  • What is a weak reference?
  • Questions on AngularJS directives
  • Spring DI
  • Difference between GET, PUT, and POST methods

After passing the phone screen, I was called for a face-to-face interview.

During the F2F interview, there were two behavioral and two fit interview sessions. Behavioral questions included:

  • Describe a time you sought help from outside your team or company.
  • Describe the most stressful situation you faced.
  • Describe a conflict of interest you encountered with a team member.
  • Describe a situation where you had to choose a different technology mid-project.

Fit interview questions primarily focused on:

  • AngularJS
  • Spring REST API
  • Spring DI
  • Writing JSON code
  • Angular two-way binding
  • Angular promise calls
  • Angular filtering
