I know in the world of Zoom interviews, it's hard to get a feel for people. But the interviewer had such a no-energy, bad vibe right from the start; I just knew his mind was made up before we even began. His questions were even irrelevant.
I know there could be thousands of reasons why, but they are selling their company to me just as much as I'm selling myself to them. I'm 50+ years old, and this was by far my first rodeo in this situation, but it was the longest, most awkward 30 minutes. I was completely qualified for the job, so (in my mind) it came down to whether it would be a good fit.
I never heard anything back. It takes one minute to say, "Thanks for taking the time, but we decided to go with other candidates." I'm not sure if they realize that I would never re-apply and would discourage anyone else from applying. To be clear, it's not because I didn't get further in the hiring phase; it's because the interviewer and process were so bad.
