A recruiter contacted me and asked me to apply for the position. I passed a Codesignal test and was invited for the "power day" interviews.
Round 1: Technical I was asked to solve a LeetCode question. The interviewer told me to write the code in any language I wanted. When I wrote the code, he mentioned he did not understand C++. He then proceeded to ask me questions about the code, and didn't understand what I was trying to convey.
Round 2: Technical This round involved system design for a smart meter in an apartment. The interviewer was very unprofessional, joining 15 minutes late and connecting through a mobile phone, wasting time. Ultimately, after 20 minutes, he connected through a laptop. He bragged about how all their projects have moved to the cloud. He asked if I had experience with AWS, and I answered that I was aware of it but hadn't used it extensively. He then asked about front-end experience, despite my application being for a back-end position. He made cutting, sarcastic remarks, stating that all their developers are AWS certified and have front-end knowledge. When I asked why they selected AWS over other cloud services, he couldn't provide an acceptable answer.
Round 3: Case Interview This round presented a business scenario. We discussed the pros and cons of using a product and some interpretation of code. The interviewer wouldn't give me a moment to think, repeatedly saying, "Speak through your thought process." This interviewer also talked about the cloud.
Round 4: Behavioral The interviewer read from a paper and asked three questions.
Overall, the company seems very obsessed with cloud and AWS. I would suggest they conduct a thorough resume screen before inviting candidates for the "power day" interviews to avoid wasting everyone's time.
Additionally, they expect you to understand the question, think about it, write the code, and keep talking about your thought process simultaneously. I'm not sure how one can accomplish all of that.
The worst part was the recruiter calling to inform me of my rejection when an email would have been sufficient.
