Pros: Despite being just an intern, I'm given plenty of freedom in how I write my code and what I work with. There's also plenty of people around who are friendly and willing to help me learn anything I don't understand.
Cons: In my case, I found that there was a lack of precise direction at the start. I was given instructions on what I should make, but complete freedom in how I do it. While some may enjoy this, as a new intern, this was fairly overwhelming at first.
