Pros: Great tech stack. Stress-free work experience.

Cons: Too many reorgs happen in a year.

Pros: Some really talented people work at C1. The company is very forward-facing and willing to make investments that take (sometimes) years to pay off. There are lots of chances for advancement. If you're willing to network, there are lots of chances to move around and work on interesting projects.

Cons: Internal politics are really strange at times, with folks staking out technical positions that seem purist and are likely driven by career optimizing rather than solving problems for customers. A lot of productivity theater as well, with teams doing redundant work. I'm sure this happens in most large companies, but it seemed more frequent at C1. Product management was either brilliant or terrible, not really consistent from team to team. It's been a few years, so this may have improved. Bonus and incentives structures seemed to cause a lot of churn and fueled some of the above behavior. All that being said, one of the best companies I've worked for.

Pros: N/A, there are no pros I have found so far.

Cons: I had been working with so many teams, and we all had a happy ending. I was hired by the Canada OPC team at Capital One in January 2022. I helped them fix production bugs that had been in their backlog for over 5 months and no one could resolve them. I pointed out their mistakes. Unfortunately, they thought I was superior to them. I was shocked, and that is so ridiculous! They kept escalating me to the hiring manager without any prior communication or evidence. Even my hiring manager was surprised. If you want to escalate someone with issues to management, you have to talk with the person first. But they just kept escalating, not only me but also another new hire there. They told so many lies. How can a company have such a culture? It will damage the company's reputation. Horrible team. Please avoid the Canada OPC team at Capital One at least!
