The interview process was long and exhausting. It included two job fit, two behavior fit, and one case review interview, each conducted by a different person.
Interviewers: One or two people cared to introduce themselves and give an idea of what they do. Half the panel didn't even bother to look at the resume before the interview. One interviewer was rummaging through his gym bag in search of my resume. They seemed disengaged and gave the impression they didn't want to be there, except for one or possibly two.
Only one out of five interviewers seemed to know about the role and what it entails, and even then, only partially and at a high level. The hiring manager was not part of the panel, leading to a significant disconnect between what was discussed over the phone and during the in-person interviews.
One interviewer was yawning and checking his phone throughout the interview. It was unclear if I was being boring or if he simply didn't care.
Questions: The questions were all open-ended, but none of the interviewers could maintain a conversation beyond two exchanges. Some panel members were not in the same line of business or the same stream as the position itself. Consequently, it was difficult to gauge whether they were receiving the input they sought or if I should continue, stop, or change my train of thought. Out of five hours of interviews, no single question stood out.
The behavior fit questions were too generic and had little relevance to the job description. The case review was straightforward and allowed for showcasing various thinking points. The job fit interview did not delve deep enough.
Process: However, the process itself was quite swift. The interview schedule and preparation documents were sent well in advance, and the results were provided within a day.
