Capital One fashions itself as a tech company that also does banking. This is corporate propaganda, but there's some truth to it. Their migration to the cloud is impressive for an institution so subject to regulatory scrutiny. Working for them feels a lot more like working for a tech startup than IBM in many ways.
It's a big, boring company.
Middle management seems like an early death.
HR is rigid and bureaucratic.
All the social events are cringey.
