I applied for a role, and a recruiter reached out to me. I was set up to speak with the hiring manager, and that's where my bad experience started.
The hiring manager introduced himself, stating he had been a "techy" all his life and considered himself a better technologist than a good people manager. He admitted he was trying and learning people management. Not a great start!
The more he talked, the more I wondered if he was truly qualified to be a senior director. Most of his rambling was unrelated to the role and lacked thoughtfulness. He opened a Word document and began reading questions/text for me to answer. It was obvious they were Amazon questions, as I had worked there for four years.
At the end of the interview, he said he wanted me to proceed to the next step. Surprisingly, there was no follow-up email from the recruiter. After multiple emails and a week, I was told they were in the "midst of allocating where the new leadership headcount" was going.
I waited for a few more weeks and sent a few more emails. I never received a reply since. They are nothing but incompetent jerks.
