Software Engineer, Backend Interview Experience

Process

The phone screen was very strange.

When asking about my background, the interviewer seemed quite condescending about my previous roles.

They then began to talk about how Chime was benefiting the poor, citing evidence that their main customer base was living paycheck to paycheck. They explained their revenue model as taking money from the wealthy to benefit the poor.

It felt a bit offensive to hear the mission of a tech company framed this way, especially when their revenue and valuation are so high.

Please don't try to be condescending or "woke" about your mission. It's really not an ethical or radical cause.
