Pros
  • Super smart people; every brainstorming session is amazing, and everyone is very willing to collaborate and share knowledge across the board.
  • Technical challenges are very interesting and actually fun to solve.
  • Given the massive reach our platforms have, Chime keeps solving issues and coming up with top-notch features for our members. As an engineer, we get almost immediate feedback from our users on how our work impacts their day-to-day life.
  • Tech freedom. The engineering team has some boundaries, but all in all, we have a lot of technical freedom and liberties at the company.
  • Chime shone through during the pandemic for its employees. They implemented perks like mandatory time off (1 day/month), family and educational resources, work-from-home stipends, etc.
  • Open to growth career opportunities and manager support.
  • Zero culture of blame. We all work towards fixing bugs and ensure we proactively come up with solutions to avoid being in those situations again.
Cons

Things move very, very fast, so that can be a bit stressful sometimes.

Due to the massive engineering growth the company is going through, the development flows are affected with bottlenecks in some departments where the growth is not happening as fast.

It can be challenging and a bit overwhelming to keep up with all the forms of communication we have in the company.
