First Stage - Phone Interview A 30-minute telephonic interview was scheduled via email. The interview started with a general conversation about background, experience, day-to-day work process, what I like about my current job, what I dislike, and reasons for looking elsewhere.
Then, the conversation delved into more details about past projects. Tip: Shortlist a project beforehand that you feel most comfortable discussing and describing your skills for.
Second Stage - Panel Interview + Skill Test + Presentation Three weeks after the phone interview, I was called for a 2-hour onsite interview. The interview followed a similar pattern to the phone interview. This was followed by a skill test. I was asked to design, or rather sketch out, conceptual screens based on a data sheet containing tables and values. The goal was to simplify the information for the user.
Afterward, I was asked to present my portfolio. Be ready to explain your work. The portfolio could be online, or a PPT or PDF would suffice. I used a PDF. As you explain your work, you will be asked questions about your thought process and the challenges you encountered.
Third Stage - 1-1 Interviews After 2.5 weeks, I was called for a 3-hour final 1-1 interview with 4 different interviewers. This interview was the most enjoyable and intellectually stimulating, where I discussed futuristic design concepts with highly knowledgeable individuals. Each interview lasted 45 minutes.
The interviewers were the UX lead, technology lead, product manager, and hiring manager. During these interviews, I learned more about the job, my role and responsibilities, processes, current challenges, and the team's vision.
Most of the difficult or unexpected questions were related to past work/projects.
