Dev Test Engineer Grade 4
Software Engineer I • Former Employee
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
June 11, 2012
Pros: Good culture and decent reputation for the company. Work and learning entirely depends on the individual. If you choose to grow, you can.
Cons: Testing profiles are a bit boring. You really don't need a lot of learning. Recognition opportunities are less. You really can't do much out of the way. Cisco, as a company, will try to normalize everyone irrespective of their performance. So, long-term career may not have much advantage for people who aspire to grow really fast.

Not a good place for the young, smart, and ambitious
Software Engineer I • Former Employee
Milpitas, California, United States
April 14, 2010
Pros: It is a great place for older folks with families and mortgages. It's very stable and poor performance will not get you fired unless you are unbelievably bad (but there are exceptions to this as well).
For those with a lack of internship experience, Cisco is a good place to pick up a skill set and move on to another company.
Cons: 1. Career advancement is non-existent.
2. No increases to salary to keep up with inflation.
3. Little recognition for good work.
