Process

I was contacted by a staffing agency about a position at CISCO, RTP. The initial round with CISCO was a Webex call. However, due to some issues with my internet connection, I couldn't join the Webex. The hiring manager then called me on my mobile for a 1:1 phone interview. They asked me to rate myself on Java and if I had any Linux experience. They also inquired about my usage of SQL and Git, and asked about my expertise.

I received the result in four days, and the next round was with a panel of seven members. One team member escorted me to the meeting room and then excused himself, stating there was a priority. So, it was a six-member panel interview that went very smoothly. There was no whiteboard coding. They asked many questions from my resume, such as what my contribution was and if I had coded any functionality from scratch. It was essentially about projecting yourself exactly as your resume describes. This round also felt somewhat behavioral, asking about challenges I faced.

Finally, one technical question was asked in Java: the difference between an Interface and an Abstract Class.

Questions

I was an ex-employee of Oracle, so you can ask me what disadvantages I had working with Oracle DB. This was an unexpected question.
