Initially, I had a phone screen chat with the recruiter. She was very nice, gave a great overview of the company, and left a positive impression.

Then, I met with someone who I believe would have been a peer. That interview was fine.

This is where things went off the rails. My next interview was with someone who had a family emergency and needed to cancel our upcoming interview. She reached out to me directly, and I felt a bit awkward about how to respond, although I do feel bad about the family emergency.

Then, I met with who I was initially told was the Hiring Manager for the role. However, he disclosed during our call that he was, in fact, not going to be the HM, but he did not say who that was.

After my interview with him, I met with another member of the team. He never disclosed that he would actually be the manager of this position until the last four minutes of our interview.

He also asked rather bizarre questions for which I wasn't clear what sort of answer he was looking for (e.g., "What new Workday upgrades piqued your interest?" Frankly, none, because I support Recruiting and Learning, and they had rather lame enhancements this time around).

I never did get rescheduled with the person who had the family emergency. Subsequently, I was told I was not right for the role, so they were moving on.

Not too many "tell me about a time..." questions, which was appreciated. We just chatted to get a feel for the fit and work style, I guess. This could have just been the way this particular team interviews.
