Great People, Awful Pay and Hours

Pros: Great people to work with and learn about the basics of collaboration tech.
Cons: Cisco will cut hours toward the end of the year, and you don’t even get a full 40-hour week.
Pay is pretty awful on top of that.

Pros: Great team and environment. The pay is also competitive.
Cons: Unfortunately, Cisco relies heavily on contract work for positions such as these. As such, the benefits are abysmal, with no paid time off. You have to leverage between losing pay or sanity after not having time off for several months at a time. Every once in a while, Cisco will throw a holiday day to you, and contract companies will allow you to take a day off paid. However, compared to actual organizations that provide benefits, this is still subpar.

Pros: Cisco has an awesome reputation. It is definitely a resume builder, and you learn some valuable skills.
Cons: Crabs in a bucket culture. Due to the fact there are limited FTE positions, everyone is mostly contractors. So when an FTE position comes along, it is a volatile place.
Some leadership or team leads may be good at the technical aspects but are not good at being a team lead or leading a team. That caused a lot of turmoil within the group.
