As a contractor working remotely, I had challenging opportunities and enjoyed working with professionals

Pros

They work with the technology they build in their day-to-day operations. It is a company that builds network solutions to change the way the world works, lives, plays, and learns.

Remote opportunities are normal in this environment, and it works! Many companies could learn from Cisco, at least the group I was in (Worldwide Systems Engineering & Technology Group).

Cons

As a contractor, I was led to believe I had a long-term assignment, and all the messages were positive. One day, out of the blue, I was told they ran out of money, and my contract ended a few days after that. That hurt me financially very much.

Advice to Management

Be upfront with contractors on your commitments.
