Pros
  • Flexible work hours
  • Relaxed environment, challenging work
  • Awarded for hard work and results
  • Great exposure to different technologies
Cons
  • Due to company size, there are lots of free loaders.
  • Sometimes the number of years trumps newer innovative thinking from junior/inexperienced folks.
  • The 80/20 rule applies; the company seems to run on 20% of the folks doing a lot more than the 80% who are doing what is expected, nothing more.
Advice to Management

Identify high performers and keep rewarding them.

Make sure that the number of years in a certain job doesn't automatically mean that one will get promoted.

Make sure every year there is a reset. One should be judged by the performance in the last year and not what was done/accomplished 5-10 years ago.

Get more young talent and harness them. Build their careers.
