Depends on expertise, one might be involved/pulled into multiple projects, which can lead to a lot of extra work. Since we are engaged with global virtual teams/customers, we have to attend many meetings.
Some people seem to get promoted easily, but others do not. Management might consider some kind of years of service-based promotion, as long as the candidate's overall performance is good.
