Pros
  1. Proper work-life balance, flexible hours, and a work-from-home option.
  2. Recently, good work is flowing in.
  3. Very smart colleagues, who are also very respectful and helpful.
  4. Good culture and company values.
  5. Good recreational facilities (quiet rooms, gym, TT and foosball tables, carrom, massage chairs, nap rooms, etc.).
Cons
  1. Slow professional growth, too much hierarchy.
  2. Removed bi-yearly appraisal; now it's yearly.

This only relates to the Business Unit in which I work. Revenue is going down (customers are moving to the cloud platform, resulting in less income from costly hardware).

  1. Less hikes/promotions.
  2. Frequent layoffs, not dependent on performance.
  3. Very few food options in the cafeteria.

(The above points 3, 4, and 5 do not apply to other Business Units.)

Advice to Management
  1. Reduce hierarchy; make management as flat as possible.
  2. Restart bi-yearly appraisals; one year seems too long.
  3. Sometimes layoffs are okay, but please make them performance-based, not just subjective-feedback or personal-relations based.
