Pros

Cisco's Bangalore campus has world-class amenities and facilities.

Work-life balance is good.

You are open to take training on any new technologies that come in.

Cons

There are many. Let me share a few of them:

  • If you are joining Cisco Service Provider India, do not expect a hike/raise for at least the next couple of years. People do not get hikes for years (3-4 years). Promotion is too hard to get; you need to perform like the best in the team for 3-4 years continuously to get it.
  • There are very few teams where you gain good domain knowledge while working; else, everywhere is just sustenance work.
  • Most managers do not care about your learning/development; their main concern is just to get the bugs fixed on time. So, most of them follow the push mechanism to get the work done.
  • You won't find any motivation to work. No one talks about new technologies, and year by year, you will lose confidence in yourself, as you will work hard even then, you won't get any appraisal.
  • Most importantly, engineers are treated as slaves. Till the time they need you, you will be treated well, and when they don't need you, they will find a better slave and dump you.
